Job Description

As a Senior System Design Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and optimizing quantum hardware systems to enhance performance and scalability. You’ll collaborate with design and research teams to ensure robust system architectures, contributing to our groundbreaking approach to quantum computing. This position offers the chance to influence the next generation of quantum technology, with potential applications in scientific research and emerging industries like aerospace.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and optimization of quantum hardware systems, focusing on scalability and reliability improvements.

  • Develop and test system architectures to enhance performance and connectivity across quantum platforms.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (research, architecture, systems, design, product engineering, validation, and implementation) to prototype and validate designed systems, ensuring alignment with project milestones.

  • Provide technical expertise in system design, contributing to patentable innovations and licensing strategies.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and scientific discovery.

Requirements

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Quantum Computing, or a related field (PhD preferred).

  • 7+ years of experience in system design, preferably in quantum computing, photonics, or trapped-ion technologies.

  • Proven expertise in designing complex hardware systems, with a focus on performance and scalability optimization.

  • Strong understanding of quantum computing principles and their practical applications.

  • Experience with interdisciplinary teams and a track record of delivering innovative design solutions.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

 

Preferred Skills

 

  • Familiarity with hybrid quantum systems or photonic/trapped-ion technologies.

  • Knowledge of aerospace applications or quantum simulations for scientific discovery.

  • Experience with patent development or intellectual property processes, particularly for licensing initiatives.

Recruitment Process

  • Application Review: Applications received by July 10, 2025, will be reviewed starting July 15, 2025. Candidates will be notified within 5 business days if shortlisted.

  • Initial Interview: Shortlisted candidates will participate in a 30-minute virtual interview with the hiring manager, scheduled within 10 business days of notification, to discuss experience and fit.

  • Technical Assessment: Selected candidates will complete a take-home technical assignment (estimated 4-6 hours) within 7 business days, focusing on system design concepts.

  • Final Interview: Top candidates will attend a 1-hour panel interview with the engineering team, scheduled within 5 business days of assessment submission, to evaluate problem-solving and cultural alignment.

  • Offer: Successful candidates can expect a verbal offer within 3 business days of the final interview, followed by a written offer and contract negotiation.

  • Timeline: The process aims to conclude by August 01, 2025, with flexibility based on candidate availability.
